Creative Expressions

My Minds Eye

Here I am again with my Creative Expressions project . This is based on a driftwood circle which I painted with a base coat of white Gesso before decorating it . I like starting with Gesso because I can then sand it to creat a nice smooth surface.
I am going to list what I used first:-
Chalk Cloud Blending inks-- Enchanted Blossom, Sweet Violet ,  Misty Grey and Blue Lagoon .
Colour Cloud Blending Ink - Chic Aubergine.
Acrylic Paint - Cocoa Praline and Twilight Purple.
Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Gesso- White .
Woodware Stamps - Eyes .
Clear Stamps - Silhouette Garden.
Clear Texture Paste.
That Special Touch Masks - Tracery ,Ornate Elements
Dies by Sue Wilson- Perfect Peony Complete Petals , Olive Branch and Dandelion Posies .
Archival Ink - Watering Can .
Gilding Polish - Pearl Lustre and Chocolate Bronze.

After the Gesso was dry and smooth l rubbed the Chalk Cloud  Blending inks across the driftwood circle randomly . I used all the colours except blue lagoon.. I then stencilled through the Tracery mask using the grey ink . Just a few places .
I mixed  the two acrylic paints to create a deep purple colour which I added to texture Paste . I applied this mixture through the ornate elements mask as shown . Finally I stamped in between the raised areas using a stamp from the Silhouette Garden set using watering can ink .

I used one of the smaller hexagons from the set and coloured it with Blue lagoon and sweet violet ink . Because I didn't use gesso first the colours are darker . I used the ornate elements mask again with Chic Aubergine to get a deeper background.
I then stamped one of the eyes from the Eyes set . I used a white pen to add highlights to the eye and to write the words . I realised that the background was too purple when the hexagon was finished so I rubbed lots of blue lagoon around the edges of the circle to pull all the colours together.
The raised stencilling was rubbed with both the gilding polishes before attaching the hexagon.

The flowers and leaves  and dandelions  are cut from black card and then attached to the circle .
That's all for now folks !!! Back soon .

Pretty Paint Palette.

Today I am going to share my latest project for Creative Expressions , a decorated MDF paint palette. I've used a limited palette of colours because I think it would be very easy to use lots of colours, after all that's what a palette is for , and I wanted to see what would happen if I limited my choice of colours . Here's the result .
I base coated the palette with a a mix of Flushed Cheeks and Perfect White to create a warm but fairly neutral base colour . I mixed this colour with clear texture paste and used this through  the Chicken Wire mask . When this was dry I rubbed copper Gilding Polish over the raised areas .
The ' paint blobs ' come with the palette and are also MDF . I used the above paint colours and also Samba Pink and Red Apple to mix lots of different shades of pink to colour the blobs . If you put a little of the Flushed Cheeks into all the mixes all the colours will tone together . ( this is an old painters technique to create a harmonious group of colours ) . Paint any excess paint onto a piece of white card . When this is dry it can be die cut using Dandelion Posies  . The blobs can either be attached now or after stamping the roses .
The roses and dots are from Silhouette Garden and were stamped using Archival Potting Shed ink.

To create the other embellishments  I took three old paintbrushes and used cosmic Shimmer glue to hold the bristles together  . I painted them with any colour from my palette and then rubbed the copper Gilding Polish over the brushes . I added some of the gold Treasure Polish here and there .
I also used this colour onto some MDF Flourishes. Finally I stamped the words from Creative Art in potting shed ink onto some ribbon .

The rosette is made using lace and a strip of hessian and a CE button in the centre . All the embellishments were attached as shown  to complete the palette.

Here's the finished project which I hope might inspire you to try a limited colour palette.
Items I used to make this :-
MDF Paint Palette and Flourish Accessory Pack .
Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Paint - Flushed Cheeks, Perfect White , Samba Pink and Red Apple .
Stamp sets -- Silhouette Garden and Creative Art .
Dies by Sue Wilson, Finishing Touches - Dandelion Posies .
Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Polish - Copper Shine and Gold Treasure.
That Special Touch Mask - Chicken Wire.

Creative Expressions Blog

Hello , I'm back again with today's Creative Expressions project .
I got a little carried away with this , because I love flowers and pretty things .
The base of the project is a Media Board which I painted with Flushed Cheeks . I then cut a piece of card to fit onto the board , which I painted with a mixture of Flushed Cheeks and Perfect White  to make a pale shade of the base colour . I painted another piece of card with the light paint mix , so that I could die cut the flowers ( Perfect Peony Complete Petals ).
I painted the back of the card and the base and edges of the board with a mixture of  Black Fig and Raspberry Riot which makes a lovely dark plum colour .
I used the same paint mix to add colour around the edge of the paper . I also stamped ' crackles ' from Crackled Sentimentality using the paint mix  .
I then stamped the flowers and dots from Silhouette Garden using  Archival Blue Violet ink randomly onto the paper . The leaves , stamped in Jet Black ink , are from the same set of stamps .

I attached a piece of lace from my stash across the top of the media board . The painted and stamped card was torn down the centre and curled before I stuck it onto the board. .
I stamped and embossed in black  the butterfly from the Beautiful Wings set three times and coloured the image with various acrylic paints . I that cut out the images and decoupaged them to create a three dimensional butterfly.
The leaves were die cut and some of them rubbed with Gilding Polish ( sadly I can't remember the colour so pick your own !) .

Finally I created the roses from the die cut flowers . I then attached some lace across the base of the board , and attached the roses , leaves and butterfly as shown .
I hope this gives you some inspiration for using these products.
Items from Creative Expressions used in this project --

Creative Expressions Blog

Morning to all . Today's project for Creative Expressions is a large tag which I cut out of  Foundations Card . After I had finished decorating it I mounted it on black card to create a border .
The background is a random mix of Chalk Colour inks , Blue Lagoon , Toasted Rose and Misty Grey blended into each other .The next step was to stencil the Peacock Feather mask using a mixture of Decadent Oak and Silver Pearl Texture Pastes .
I completed the background by stamping leaves from Silhouette Garden .

The card on top of the tag was coloured with the same inks . I added a bit of interest by stencilling the Chicken Wire mask with grey ink . The dots were stamped in a grey ink using one of the Inspiring Edges set of stamps . The flowers from the Silhouette Garden set were stamped in black ink .
I used the same dotty stamp which says memories to stamp and emboss the word onto black card .
The flowers were cut from black card using Perfect Peony complete Petal Die . Once cut I used the same mixture of Texture Paste thinly to colour the card .

I added a bit of lace from my stash as shown before attaching the smaller piece of card to the tag . I cut a few leaves using the Olive Branch die to add to the design .
The pearl embellishments were from my CE stash .

A little ribbon adds some glamour !

Fly Free

Hi there , today I am going to share this card with you . I don't have step by step photos because everything can be seen on the photo .
I started with a piece of coconut white card . I didn't cut it to size until after I had added the coloured background so that I could choose where I placed the sun .
Using Chalk Cloud Blending Inks I created the background. I started with Vanilla Twist rubbing it in a circle extending out beyond where the sun would be . I then cut a circle of paper to mask the sun and rubbed Terracotta round the mask . I continued to add Colour spreading out from the sun adding Enchanted Blossom and then Misty Grey  . Drag a little Misty Grey across the sun to suggest clouds . At this point I trimmed the card to the size I wanted  and then added some Chic Aubergine Colour Cloud ink to the edges .

I stamped the foliage from Silhouette Garden,  in Watering Can to create shadow like images . The flowers are from the same stamp set , but stamped in Jet Black . The butterflies are from Beautiful Wings stamp set  .

I stamped ' fly Free '  onto a small piece of card coloured with the inks already used and mounted it onto black card .

I used black card to create the card and mounted the picture onto the card . The caption was added using foam pads to raise it a little .

Using the Chalk Cloud Blending Inks creates a lovely soft , matte background for the stamped images  .

I hope this inspires you to try the inks and lovely silhouette stamps .

Materials used in this project:--
Chalk Cloud Blending Inks-- Vanilla , Terracotta, Enchanted Blossom and Misty Grey .
Colour Cloud Blending Inks-- Chic Aubergine.
Creative Expressions Clear Stamp Sets-- Silhouette Garden , Beautiful Wings and Frame It .

Creative Expressions

Hi there , finally after a long break I'm  back with my first Creative Expressions Blog of the year !!
I've been very busy in the meantime because my daughter has just got married and l helped her by making her the wedding dress ( and matching jacket and bag ) !
Right now I'm very excited to share this project with you .
The base for this project is an A5 media board which I painted with whit Gesso . I then rubbed Blending inks over the Gesso to get a soft variegated background. This will need drying.

The stamp is from the Creative Expressions stamp set - Watch the Birdie .
I rubbed Powder Blue Gilding Polish around the edges .

Using a piece of corrugated card , I peeled some of the paper off to reveal the corrugations and
painted into them with the Chic Aubergine ink . I then painted the card with a pale yellow ( a mix of white Gesso and a touch of Cosmic Shimmer acrylic mixed media paint , Clotted cream ) . The
stamped image  ( Rubber stamp set   - Portraits  ) was embossed with gol powder  .

The stamped image of the lady is also from the Portraits set .
Flowers were die cut using the Orange Blossom complete petals set and coloured with blending inks .
To add some texture I cut and frayed a piece of hessian and coloured it with Gilding polish..
The leaves are die cut from two other Sue Wilson dies .

Finally I put everything together as shown , adding a little lace from my stash .
These media boards are perfect for making a small project and I'll probably return with another one in another post .
